MY KIND OF TOWN

MY KIND OF TOWN

On December 16th, the Pyware team traveled to Chicago, Illinois to present their new ground-breaking mobile application, the Pyware 3D Viewer, at the 69th Annual Midwest International Band, Orchestra and Music Conference.

Approximately 17,000 participants were a part of this outstanding convention and Pyware’s seminars were among the most attended. Hundreds of people packed the room to learn more about the Pyware 3D Viewer and how the app is benefitting marching ensembles worldwide.

The initial seminar was presented by Brantley Douglas, who is the current Associate Director of Bands/Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Central Arkansas. He also served as an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Athletic Bands at Christopher Newport University as well as Assistant Director of Bands at James Madison University. Needless to say, Pyware was thrilled to have him speak on the company’s behalf (Ed. note: Thanks Brantley!).

The presentation provided an overview of the new Pyware 3D app now available for use on compatible iOS and Android devices.

My vision was to provide a more practical, hands-on way for marching bands to learn routines.

“My vision was to provide a more practical, hands-on way for marching bands to learn routines,” Pyware’s founder and President, Py Kolb stated. “This speeds up the amount of time it takes to learn drill so directors can implement more drill per show.”

Douglas proceeded to show Pyware’s interview that was broadcasted on USA Today. This interview is also available to view on Pyware’s website. USA Today decided to cover a piece on the best bands in college football. So of course, they had to travel to Argyle, Texas to interview the Pyware team. Without this drill design software, these exceptional, collegiate bands would not be able execute their shows to the fullest potential. Pyware’s Applications System Director, Dustin Merrell as well as Marketing Director, Mark Mullins shed some light throughout the interview on just how valuable this new application will be for the many bands that use this software.

Pyware’s second seminar at Midwest covered a joint venture between Pyware and the Neil A. Kjos Music Company. Bruce Pearson, recipient of the Midwest Clinic Medal of Honor, is recognized worldwide for his contributions as a music educator, author, composer, conductor, and clinician. He is author of the Standard of Excellence Comprehensive Band Method, and with Ryan Nowling, co-author of the Tradition of Excellence Comprehensive Band Method. Pyware was honored to have Dr. Pearson present the second seminar where he introduced the Interactive Practice Studio (IPS) application, which provides an entirely new way to experience Kjos Music publications. The Interactive Practice Studio acts as either a supplement for your hard-copy book, or a gateway to digital books with media functions such as play-along accompaniments, instructional videos, recording capabilities, assessment resources, multicultural/interdisciplinary enrichments, and more. Pyware teamed up with Kjos Music to create this application that provides a vast array of tools for more productive practice and learning. The IPS app is now available for purchase on compatible iOS and Android devices.

Pyware delivered impactful seminars in front of hundreds of educators to introduce new and exciting applications for both marching ensembles and aspiring music students. Now it is back to the drawing board for the Pyware team to create the next innovation.

Be sure and tune in to the Army All American Bowl on January 9th as well as the National College Football Championship January 11th to watch all of the marching bands that are using Pyware software!
